WELCOME TO GORTON HERITAGE TRAIL ...

Located approximately 3 miles from the centre of Manchester, in the urban district of Gorton, Gorton Heritage Trail is a little green oasis situated on the banks of Gore Brook.

Gorton Heritage Trail Action Group (GHTAG) was founded in 1997 by local residents who were inspired to protect, enhance and maintain the area which is so rich with history and wildlife.

The trail runs for approximately three quarters of a mile through the Gore Brook Valley Conservation Area from Sunny Brow Park to Gorton Lower Reservoir. The trail encompasses a variety of different areas including;
- Sunny Brow Park; children's play around and park,
- Lower Meadow is a wildflower meadow bordered trees,
- Brookfield church and the 'dissenters graveyard'
- The trail crosses Hyde Road (A57) and enters the 'Butterfly Garden',
- The 'salt road' crosses the brook runs past the 'Vale Cottage' pub and then through foxfold, a wilder section of the trail!
- Finally the trail crosses Tanyard Brow and connects up to Gorton Lower Reservoir.
A map of the trail and Gore Brook Valley Conservation Area can be viewed in the 'location' section of the website.
